What this site collects.

Very little, and all of it on purpose. This is a static site. There is no advertising, no third-party tracking, no analytics and no cookies. Two forms collect something, and both are described below in full rather than in general terms.

Cookies

None. Not for analytics, not for preferences, not for anything.

The mailing list

At the end of Mixes you can give an email address to be told when a new set goes up. That is the only thing it is used for.

What is stored: the address, whether it has been confirmed, which page it came from, the exact sentence shown above the button when you signed up, and the date, time and IP address of the signup and of the confirmation click.

Why the IP address: the lawful basis is your consent, and consent has to be demonstrable rather than merely claimed. Those two records are the evidence that a real person at a real address asked for this. They are deleted the moment you unsubscribe, because at that point there is no longer any consent to evidence.

Confirmation is required. Nothing is ever sent to an address until someone clicks the link in the confirmation email, so nobody can sign you up.

Leaving: every email carries an unsubscribe link and it works for the life of the subscription. The record that you subscribed and then unsubscribed is kept — deleting it would destroy the proof that you were asked and the proof that you left — but it is no longer used for anything and carries no IP address.

The list is stored on Cloudflare D1, in Cloudflare’s Western Europe region. Email is sent through Resend. It is never sold, never shared and never used for anything but the sentence you agreed to.

The booking form

Booking has a form. What you type in it is emailed to bookings@weareawaken.co.uk and stored so an enquiry cannot be lost if that email fails. The lawful basis is legitimate interest — you are asking about a booking and a reply requires keeping what you sent. It is not added to the mailing list.

The form is spam-gated with a hidden field and a minimum time on the page, rather than a CAPTCHA. Nothing about you is sent to a third party to prove you are human.

Writing directly

If you email bookings@weareawaken.co.uk, that message is held in the mailbox in order to reply and to keep a record. It is not added to any mailing list.

Players and embeds

Nothing loads from YouTube or SoundCloud until you press play. Until then a set is a still image served from this site, so those companies cannot see that you were here.

The moment you do press play, that is no longer true, and it is worth being specific rather than vague about it. On Mixes the first press of play fetches SoundCloud’s player script and loads their player; elsewhere it loads a YouTube or SoundCloud frame. From that point the service can see you, and its own privacy policy applies. YouTube frames are served from youtube-nocookie.com, which is the least they offer.

How long things are kept

Mailing list records are kept while you are subscribed, and the unsubscribe record indefinitely after that. Booking enquiries are kept while they are useful for answering and for knowing how many enquiries this site produces. Ask and either will be deleted.

Your rights, and who to ask

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or withdraw consent to the mailing list at any time — the unsubscribe link does that last one instantly. Write to bookings@weareawaken.co.uk and it will be dealt with by a person.

If you are not satisfied with the answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
